UPDATED. The Senate Judiciary Committee voted 11-8 today in favor of S185, the Habeas Corpus Restoration Act.
Committee member Chuck Grassley voted no, along with presidential candidate Sam Brownback and six other Republicans. Arlen Specter (R-PA) joined all ten committee Democrats, including presidential candidate Joe Biden, in voting aye.
Before the vote, online activists at Kos and Firedoglake had targeted Grassley.
Tom Harkin has signed on to the bill, along with the four Democratic presidential candidates in the Senate -- Biden, Clinton, Dodd, Obama. GOP contender John McCain is not on board.
