Live with the Democratic Central Committee

I'm not gonna get scooped again...

Praise from Supervisor Rod Sullivan for the county Human Rights Ordinance. Dave Redlawsk reports a brief C-SPAN sighting of Congressman Loebsack in today's festivities.

We have our first rep from a committed local presidential supporter. Tom Carsner (former county chair) was a leading Edwards supporter in `04 and he's on board again.

Superintendant Lane Plugge does the talk for the tax election on 2/13; we've got a couple school board members here too. Talks about the legislative angle: the local legislators got an incentive through to keep $$$ for local use, IF it passes this time. A question about project labor agreements pops up; Patti Fields says the Board has asked for more info about qualified bidding. Also questions about improving accessibility at the oldest schools. Pauline Taylor (longtime dem and labor leader) also talks it up. Says it's likely to happen even if Johnson does not pass it now, so it would be beneficial to pass it now to keep the $ local.

Bob Dvorsky and Joe Bolkcom talk about Senate priorities; Joe expects Congress to beat the Legislature to a minimum wage hike. Joe: "Car title loans: goin' down!"

Long long long bylaws discussion, basically on the merits or demerits of endorsing in nonpartisan contests. (Personally, I'd like to see a switch to partisan city elections, but I digress.)
