He'd be the fifth former president to hold major public office after leaving the White House, joining Congressman John Quincy Adams, Senator Andrew Johnson, Chief Justice William Howard Taft... and, of course, the ultimate comeback kid, Cleveland 24.

Republican Recovery Watch: One big name suggests the GOP take a page from the parliamentary system handbook and “organize ourselves in the form of a shadow government” that would address key issues, providing the public with “a loftier debate about policy” rather than mere partisanship. That big name would be... Bush. You know, Jeb, the smart brother.

Jeb, here's one aspect of parliamentary government you may not have considered: Unpopular leaders like your brother lose confidence votes and leave office immediately. Just ask Stephen Harper in Canada. We Americans have to wait another seven weeks.

Jeb probably woulda coulda shoulda been the Bush to run in 2000 instead of W. But he was just about the only Republican in the country who lost a big race in 1994, when Lawton Chiles held on as governor of Florida.

Meanwhile, the dynasty continues; here's a Fox interview with Jeb's son George P. Bush, apparantly being groomed as Bush 45. He'll be 40 in 2016, and Chelsea Clinton will be 36. Maybe if she ran she'd actually talk to the press.
