The day is here at last, and the experts are now saying this won't be settled on the Dem side, not for a long time.

Chris Bowers goes so far as to say: "It can no longer be avoided: super delegates will determine the Democratic Presidential nominee this year." Now, if that happens, you'll see nomination reform that'll be far more than a mere calendar shuffle.

What if the nightmare scenario happens and it actually does come down to Florida and Michigan? Florida's more of a break even than Michigan, since Obama's got a chunk of delegates there. Politico notes that one of the signers of the latest plea to the DNC is a prominent Obama backer.

dday has a good MyDD diary that looks at California district by district and says most of the split is pre-ordained.

Todd Beeton argues that Obama can win outright in California but I'm linking mainly for this quote that echoes what I was saying pre-caucus:

If Clinton does lose California tomorrow, the post-mortem may just reveal that it was her over-reliance on establishment support and her inability to (or refusal to) tap into the activist base that may have been her downfall. When I saw her at the California Democratic Party convention last March, she seemed to be phoning it in, almost as though she'd written that crowd off. The Clintons have not been shy about their contempt for the out of Iraq now/impeachment folks, shouting them down angrily as they protest events; the top down vs. bottom up tension between Clinton and Obama is very much at play in California.

And John Cougar McCain he ain't:

At some recent John McCain campaign rallies, John Mellencamp’s “Our Country” and “Pink Houses” have been booming out over the speakers. There’s just one problem: Mellencamp is an ardent Democrat. And, until recently, he supported John Edwards – who had been playing “Our Country” and “Small Town” at his rallies. Mellencamp hasn’t yet made a public response, but his reps are quietly reaching out to McCain and asking him to stop playing his tunes.
